Organic Pre-Prohibition Lager Beer Kit
Item Number: OBK21A
Perfect for summer barbecues and events, this is a light lager with a rich hop flavor and a clean, crisp finish. Unlike modern American lagers, our pre-prohibition style has a creamy, smooth texture and a prominent hop flavor. Contains organic barley malt, organic malt extract, organic rice syrup, organic hops, organic bottling sugar, Irish Moss, recipe, and instructions. Produces an original gravity of approximately 1.046. IBU's: 30. Recommended yeast for this kit (Not included! Order separately): Wyeast #2035 Pilsen Lager, or White Labs American Pilsner Lager. If you are not able to ferment at lagering temperatures, try using Wyeast #2112 California Lager or White labs San Francisco Lager, which can be fermented at ale temperatures.

***NOTE: If you choose the option to purchase the kit without DME or corn sugar for bottling you will need to supply your own bottling sugar (corn sugar, DME, etc.). You may not need bottling sugar if you plan to keg your beer.

Nice summer brew
Daniel Becker (Prairie City, OR) 6/29/2010 4:24 PM
I just had a bottle at the two week mark. It was very nice. A touch of bitter at the start but a rub of lemon on the rim made it great. It had a solid stream of bubbles from the bottom during the whole glass. Great job putting this together for us beginners. Not a real lager type of person, but this came off so smooth. This is only my second batch but I can be proud to serve it. Note. I used a ale yeast as I could not keep the temp below 65 during ferment. Highly recommended.
