Organic Extra Special Bitter Mash-Extract
|
|
|
Item Number: OBK12A
|
Smooth, malty, and moderately hoppy, this is a classic E.S.B. that is a true showcase of quality organic beer.
Not as bitter as the super popular IPA, but this beer has plenty of hop character, especially present in the flavor and aroma.
A light amber Ale that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
The recipe is easily adapted to our popular Red Honey ESB recipe that we offered years ago.
For more of a dry, crisp finish and a higher alcohol content try adding 1 to 2 lbs of raw honey (not included in the kit) to the boil.
For a hoppier finish, try dry hopping with organic Kent Goldings or Fuggles hops (purchase separately).
Contains organic malt extract, organic malted barley, organic barley flakes, organic hops, organic dry malt extract (DME) for bottling, Irish Moss, recipe, and instructions.
Produces an original gravity of approximately 1.058. IBU's: 44.
***NOTE: If you choose the option to purchase the kit without DME or corn sugar for bottling you will need to supply your own bottling sugar (corn sugar, DME, etc.).
You may not need bottling sugar if you plan to keg your beer.

Review ala RateBeer.com.
Fresh biscuit, mountain honey, and ripe cantaloupe aroma, with faint piney hop notes. Light golden coper alloy body with a two finger, quickly fading, slightly off white head. Almost nonexistent lacing, but long-lasting body carbonation tickles the tongue. Smooth and very quaffable, with flavors of light caramel, citrus, and honey richness, minus the sweetness. Short-lived dry finish leaves you wanting more. Very good.

Great quality ingredients in this kit. True to style. Lots of hops up front with a clean finish. Beautiful color. Easy to brew.
I added 1lb of light dried malt extract and dry hopped with 1oz of Kent Goldings for that extra little bit.
Still amazed by how clean and fresh the flavors are.
Highly recommended.
