Organic Adjunct Grains
Organic
Fermentable Adjunct Grains
Unmalted
grains are often used to enhance certain characteristics of
a beer, to recreate a traditional recipe, or to create a beer
with unique characteristics. Flaked grains are the easiest
to use because the flaking process ""cooks"" the grain, leaving
a product that is pre-gelatinized. Thus, the home brewer does
not need to pre-cook the grains; they can be added straight
to the mash for starch conversion. Unmalted grains should
be used with barley malt as unmalted grains do not have the
enzymes necessary for starch conversion. Unmalted Adjuncts
can make up 10% to 20% of the grains called for in a beer
recipe. All of our organic adjuncts are certified organic
under the USDA National Organic Program by
California Certified Organic Farmers. |
