Malted buckwheat is a gluten-free grain that works well as base for gluten-free beers. It imparts a subtle, smooth flavor, with an adequate amount of fermentable sugar.
Malted buckwheat does not have a large enzymatic contribution, so be careful mashing alongside too much additional non-malted grains.
Note: Our mill is used daily to crush non-gluten free grains like wheat and barley. If you request that we crush your malted buckwheat, it will contain traces of gluten-containing grain dust. If you would like to maintain a gluten free product, order this product uncrushed and crush the grains open at home with a rolling pin or your own grain mill.
