Lavendula officinalis. Certified Organic. Grown in France. Lavender is an intensely floral and uniquely scented herb, traditionally used for its carminative, antispasmodic and antidepressant qualities. Use caution when adding lavender to your brew, as it can easily overwhelm and make a soapy tasting beer. In small quantities, it can add a tremendously unique aroma to a floral IPA (alongside Simcoe hops) or in a blonde ale or Berliner weisse. Avoid boiling it, and instead add 0.25-0.5oz as “dry hops” to your secondary fermentor.
