Chinook are widely used as a powerful bittering hop because they exhibit a sharp bitterness sought after in big beers like IPA and American Barley wine. Aroma is piney and herbal with hints of citrus. Can be cloying if overused. Bred from a cross between Petham Golding and a USDA-selected male.
Substitutions: Brewers Gold, Bullion, Cluster, Galena, Nugget.
