Costa Rica Montes De Oro (Fair Trade)

Shade grown, certified organic, and Fair Trade. From the lush highlands of Costa Rica comes Montes de Oro, a coffee of outstanding quality and rich flavor produced by COOCAFE (Consorcio de Cooperativas de Caficultores de Guanacaste y Montes). The coffee is handpicked and sundried or dried in solar ovens. Montes de Oro is an aromatic full bodied coffee with a honey/raw sugar sweetness with hints of clean milk chocolate. With a lush fruity acidity this is a well balanced coffee that finishes with a smooth lingering cocoa aftertaste. COOCAFE represents more than 3,500 small coffee producers throughout Costa Rica and promotes environmentally friendly growing practices such as the use of shade trees and organic fertilizers. The families who are members of COOCAFE have seen dramatic improvements in thier lives since becoming Fair Trade certified, especially in the ability to provide a better education for their children. Ensuring a better future for younger generations is the true mountain of gold that is in part made possible through the production of this coffee. The coffee beans are shade grown Typica and Caturra. It can take a wide range of roasts, but for best results we recommend a medium to French roast.

UPS Ground Shipping Rates: We ship most orders by UPS ground. Shipping cost is based on weight and we charge what UPS charges us to ship your package. If you order online, the shipping cost is calculated once the items you wish to order are added to the shopping cart and you enter the ship to address. If you are mailing or faxing an order you will need the shipping quote before the order is sent to us. Here are the options for obtaining a shipping quote:

USPS Rate Calculator: If you know the exact shipping weight of your order (including the weight of the box and packaging), you may use the US Postal Service shipping page. Our zip code is 95060. Enter the address, shipping weight, and our zip code, and rates and times in transit will be displayed. Please note that time in transit starts from the date the order shipped, not the day you place the order. Our mail carrier picks up orders at 10 am on most days. This means orders must be placed by 12 pm to be shipped by Priority Mail the following day. Orders placed after noon that are being shipped by Priority Mail will not ship the next day, they will ship the day after. ORDERS THAT WEIGH OVER 150 lbs

Our shopping cart cannot compute the actual shipping cost for orders that weigh over 150 lbs. If ordering heavy items online, the shopping cart will bill you a $99 temporary rate. This is not a flat rate to ship your order. The actual cost will be calculated by our shipping department and we will contact you to authorize the actual shipping charge. For orders over 200 lbs, the rate will include the hundredweight discount if shipped by UPS ground.

SHIPPING & BACK ORDERS:

We ship most orders within one business day of receiving them (except for orders shipped via the US Post Office, which can take up to 1 extra day for processing). If an order is received by 12 PM on a weekday we will ship it the same day (except for very large orders and USPS orders). We are a small business with a small staff, so there are days when we have lots of orders to ship and we cannot ship all of the orders on that day. When this happens (most often on Mondays), we always ship the orders in the order that we received them. We really appreciate your understanding! We do not back order or substitute items without contacting you first: If we are out of an item we will call or e-mail for instructions, unless the item is a closeout that is no longer available, in which case it will be dropped from the order.

C.O.D. ORDERS:

We do not accept COD orders. Check or money orders can be mailed to the address on the order form

EXPRESS SHIPPING:

If you are in a rush we can ship your order via UPS Next Day, 2nd Day, or 3 Day Air to zones A & B. Zone C Shipments are always shipped USPS Priority Mail, but can be shipped overnight upon request. If you wish NEXT DAY AIR Shipping, you must place your order by telephone. Orders shipped by an expedited method are billed the actual cost of shipping & insurance.

All of the products labeled organic that we sell are certified organic by California certified Organic Farmers, a USDA recognized agency. The USDA federal rule guarantees you, the consumer, organic products that are grown without toxic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Buying organic will insure that the food products you consume contain no genetically modified organisms (GMO's), and are free from irradiation. In addition, buying certified organic means all of the equipment and storage facilities have been inspected to make sure no harmful chemicals are used in cleaning equipment or pest management, and no chemical or other potentially harmful processing aids or additives are used in the processing of organic foods.
