Shipping cost is based on weight and we charge what UPS charges us to ship your package. If you order online, the shipping cost is calculated once the items you wish to order are added to the shopping cart and you enter the ship to address. If you are mailing or faxing an order you will need the shipping quote before the order is sent to us. This means orders must be placed by 12 pm to be shipped by Priority Mail the following day. Orders placed after noon that are being shipped by Priority Mail will not ship the next day, they will ship the day after. To calculate time and cost with USPS use this link: http://postcalc.usps.gov/ In Store Customer Pick-up: If you want to pick an order up at our Santa Cruz Store, please include a note with your order that you wish to do this. The shipping charge will be deducted from your order before your account is charged, and your order will be held at our store. Orders for pick up are generally available the day after they are placed. If you request a specific pick-up time, we will do our best to have your order ready by that time. USPS FLAT RATE BOXES: We are happy to use these whenever possible. If your order fits into one or more of these boxes, we will do so and deduct the savings from your total before your credit card is processed. Please choose USPS as the shipping method, and mention i the order notes you would like flat rate boxes. Please keep in mind that the USPS tracking system is not as good as UPS and orders shipped this way can take a long time to be recovered if lost. If delivery time is really important to you we suggest you choose UPS for shipping your order becuase they guarantee the time in transit of each shipment and have a reliable tracking system. Medium Flat Rate Box: 11" x 9" x 6" $11.90 (includes insurance) Fits: Most Organic Beer Kits, 10 lbs of coffee, or 10 lbs of grain. Large Flat Rate Box: 11" x 9" x 6" $15.90 (includes insurance) Fits: 2 Easy-Brew Organic Beer Kits, 15 lbs of coffee, or 15 lbs of grain.   SHIPPING & BACK ORDERS: We ship most orders within one business day of receiving them (except for orders shipped via the US Post Office, which can take up to 1 extra day for processing). If an order is received by 12 PM on a weekday we will ship it the same day (except for very large orders and USPS orders). We are a small business with a small staff, so there are days when we have lots of orders to ship and we cannot ship all of the orders on that day. When this happens (most often on Mondays), we always ship the orders in the order that we received them. We really appreciate your understanding! We do not back order or substitute items without contacting you first: If we are out of an item we will call or e-mail for instructions, unless the item is a closeout that is no longer available, in which case it will be dropped from the order. C.O.D. ORDERS: We do not accept COD orders. Check or money orders can be mailed to the address on the order form EXPRESS SHIPPING: If you are in a rush we can ship your order via UPS Next Day, 2nd Day, or 3 Day Air to zones A & B. Zone C Shipments are always shipped USPS Priority Mail, but can be shipped overnight upon request. If you wish NEXT DAY AIR Shipping, you must place your order by telephone. Orders shipped by an expedited method are billed the actual cost of shipping & insurance. Special Notice: On October 1, 2007, Flat rate shipping ended. For many reasons, the time came for us to end the flat rate shipping program we had offered for many years. Shipping costs rose so much in recent years that we were forced to inflate our prices to cover the extra shipping, making our prices seem outrageous to some customers, and certainly unfair to customers who live geographically closer to us. From an environmental standpoint, the flat rate shipping discouraged our customers from seeking more local sources of heavy items as the flat rate actually was an incentive to ship as much weight clear across the country as possible.
