Grown in California, adapted to warm climates. Available to ship date approximately March 1. A rich herbal bittering hop. Typical alpha range is 12- 14%.

Rhizomes are the best way to produce strong, healthy, female plants. The female plants produce the hop flowers that are used for brewing. Hops (Humulus lupulus) grow well in temperate climates and prefer lots of sunlight and water. They are a climbing vine plant that can reach lengths of up to 18 feet. Hops are a perennial that grow back from the rhizome each spring and die back to the crown in the fall. Most varieties do not produce flowers in the first year, but will produce hops for many years if properly cared for.

All rhizomes ordered include a basic set of instructions. You can also visit our hop growing tips page. For more detailed information, refer to the books suggested below. We strongly encourage you to order at least 2 of each type of rhizome to ensure a successful planting.

Rhizome orders will ship as soon as the all of rhizomes in your order have arrived. Pre-orders are strongly recommended: we expect to sell out before the end of March. All pre-sales are pre-paid: your credit card will be charged at the time you place the order, not at delivery time. This policy allows us to ship the rhizomes immediately upon arrival so you recieve the freshest possible root stock. Your purchase will be refunded in full if a crop failure prevents delivery. Please read our terms of sale before making a purchase.

Because of agricultural quarantine restrictions, rhizomes can not be shipped to the states of OR, WA, HI, and AK, the counties of Bonner and Kootenai in ID, or out of the continental USA (including APO/FPO addresses. Orders placed for shipment to these areas will be canceled. Thank you for understanding!

If ordering other items from our store, please place a separate order for hop rhizomes if possible. If ordering rhizomes from separate areas, and if there are other items in your order, the delivery date for your entire order will be the latest expected ship date of all rhizomes ordered. If you want other items in the same order to ship immediately, we are glad to do so upon request. A separate shipping charge will apply. Note that all orders containing rhizomes will be pre-paid (your credit card will be charged when your order is placed) but will not ship ship until all of the rhizomes in your order have arrived.

UPS Ground Shipping Rates: We ship most orders by UPS ground. Shipping cost is based on weight and we charge what UPS charges us to ship your package. If you order online, the shipping cost is calculated once the items you wish to order are added to the shopping cart and you enter the ship to address. This means orders must be placed by 12 pm to be shipped by Priority Mail the following day. ORDERS THAT WEIGH OVER 150 lbs

Our shopping cart cannot compute the actual shipping cost for orders that weigh over 150 lbs. If ordering heavy items online, the shopping cart will bill you a $99 temporary rate. This is not a flat rate to ship your order. The actual cost will be calculated by our shipping department and we will contact you to authorize the actual shipping charge. For orders over 200 lbs, the rate will include the hundredweight discount if shipped by UPS ground.

SHIPPING & BACK ORDERS:

We ship most orders within one business day of receiving them (except for orders shipped via the US Post Office, which can take up to 1 extra day for processing). If an order is received by 12 PM on a weekday we will ship it the same day (except for very large orders and USPS orders). We are a small business with a small staff, so there are days when we have lots of orders to ship and we cannot ship all of the orders on that day. When this happens (most often on Mondays), we always ship the orders in the order that we received them. We really appreciate your understanding! We do not back order or substitute items without contacting you first: If we are out of an item we will call or e-mail for instructions, unless the item is a closeout that is no longer available, in which case it will be dropped from the order.

C.O.D. ORDERS:

We do not accept COD orders. Check or money orders can be mailed to the address on the order form

EXPRESS SHIPPING:

If you are in a rush we can ship your order via UPS Next Day, 2nd Day, or 3 Day Air to zones A & B. Zone C Shipments are always shipped USPS Priority Mail, but can be shipped overnight upon request. If you wish NEXT DAY AIR Shipping, you must place your order by telephone. Orders shipped by an expedited method are billed the actual cost of shipping & insurance.
