Guatemala
Huehuetenango (Fair
Trade)
Certified
organic, shade grown, and Fair Trade. Pronounced "way-way-ten-ang-oh",
an exciting name for a lively coffee! The growers of this
fine coffee are members of the Asobagri Cooperative, a
co-op that provides many benefits to its members in exchange
for upholding strict quality standards. The co-op also
requires the organic farming members to cultivate shade
trees, practice soil conservation, and use composting methods.
This is a quality Guatemalan coffee with a bright spicy-peppery
acidity, and a smooth, rich body. The coffee finishes with
a distinct rich smokiness that fades into a spicy chocolate
finish. This coffee sells out quickly each year, but we
were able to purchase a respectable amount and should be
able to fill orders for most of the year. Recommended roast:
Light roast to French.

Perlick
Sanitary Stainless Steel Faucet: $39.90
Or
Get an All Stainless Steel Shank Assembly plus the faucet
for: $69.90
The
Perlick sanitary stainless steel faucet is a vast improvement
over the traditional chrome plated brass faucet. This faucet
has all stainless steel inner working parts and seals at
the forward end which prevents beer form drying out inside
and causing the lever to stick and a buildup of oup in
your beer lines. A must have for home kegerators that may
sit idle for days. The Front spout also removes for easy
cleaning, reducing the amount of time and effort needed
for maintaining a clean tap. If you purchase just the faucet,
the knob and faucet shank assembly shown in the picture
are not included.
A
completely stainless steel faucet assembly is a worthwhile
investment for completely taint free dispensing and
is essential for serving beverages with higher acidity
such as cider, wine, or even cocktails. Ready
to install in a refrigerator or cooler, the only
tools needed are a drill with a 1" bit or hole saw
and a wrench. The shank can fit in walls up to 3
1/2" thick
and is solid stainless steel. Comes with a detachable
beer nut with a stainless steel hose barb on the
back for easy disassembly for cleaning or changing
kegs.

***NOTICE:
Hop Purchase Limitations As of 5/1/08*** Due
to the current hop shortage we are restricting orders for
hops to be sure we will have a reliable supply that our regular
customers can count on. If you place an order for more than
2 oz. of hops and have not made a purchase from us prior
to September 1 2007,
your order will be refused unless it contains enough organic
brewing ingredients to brew at least one 5 gallon batch of
organic beer.
If
you have purchased organic brewing ingredients (including
malts or kits) from us prior to September 1, 2007
or you can prove to us that the other ingredients you are
brewing with are also organic, we will ship an order for
more than 2 oz. of hops.
Our
cooperatively owned business is dedicated to promoting
all organic beer, brewed only
with organically
grown malt
and hops. Currently there are not enough organic hops
available to brew enough 100% organic beer to meet the
current demand.
As a result, we have pledged to only sell our organic
hops to brewers who can verify they are using the hops
to brew
organic beer.
We
are also restricting retail sales to a reasonable limit
of 2 lbs per person. Orders that contain
more than 2 lbs of hops will be adjusted as we
see fit, and we are limiting sales of hops to individuals
to no more than 6 lbs. in a 1 year period.*** |
2006
New Zealand Organic Whole Hops: 10%
Off!
We
have a few pounds left of 2006 crop New Zealand Pacific
Gem and Hallertaur hops we are selling before we release
the 2007 crop for sale. This is the last opportunity
we will likely see for some time to buy New Zealand organic
hops at the old price levels, as costs for new crop is
significantly higher. The 2007 crop is available now at
the new higher price. Our hop purchase limitations do
apply to sale hops, so please read about this under the
picture to the left.
New
Zealand Hallertaur: A versatile hop that
is similar to the German Hallertau Mittelfruh
variety with a pleasant floral aroma suitable for
flavor and aroma, yet it has a relatively high alpha
acid
content, making it useful as a bittering hop. It has
the ability
to retain its clean, crisp taste even in older beers.
This hop is a good choice for German style lagers
and European and American ales. We like this hop as a
substitute
for Hallertaur or Tettnanger hops, and its clean
aroma works well for aroma or dry hopping American style
hoppy pale ales and IPAs.

New
Zealand Pacific Gem: New Zealand
is an excellent place to grow organic hops because
none of the usual hop diseases and pests such as
downy mildew exist. Pacific Gem is a very high alpha
hop with a pleasant citrus aroma good for bitters
and dark beers. Some brewers have reported that Pacific
Gem provides a subtle "blackberry" flavor/taste,
which is a popular characteristic for English bitters
and stouts..

Old
Crop Organic German Pellet Hops: 30%
Off!
We
have transitioned to the newer crop pellet hops since
the arrival of our shipment, and actually had a small
surplus of older German Saphir and Spalt Select pellet
hops. All of our pellet hops have been cold stored in
nitrogen flushed foil bags, and so the quality is nearly
as high as the fresh batch we have just recived. While
supplies last!!
German
Spalt Select: The Spalt Select are
one of the best organic hops we have found. Bred
from Mittlefrueh
and Spalt hops in the early 90's the aroma of Select
hops is reminiscent of a fine Tettnanger or Hersbrucker
noble hop. A hop suitable for bittering, flavor,
and aroma, it is excellent in European ales and lagers,
with a pleasant spicy flavor and strong aroma. A
good substitute for Tettnanger, US Saaz, Hersbrucker.

German
Saphir: A relatively unknown but
up and coming new breed of hop that is starting to
replace the Hallertaur Mittlefrueh variety which
has become more and more susceptable to diasease
and pests. Shares many of the Hallertaur Mittlefrueh
characteristics and with a low alpha acid content
is very well suited as an aroma hop for the finest
European style lagers. The Saphir is a true jewel
in the noble hop family and has a refined aroma and
a mild flavor. This hop is distinguished by a sweet
and clean citrus aroma that has a hint of tangerine.
